Food Shortage
The children’s diet consists of rice, beans, cassava food, yam, corn and millet porridge and various sauces. Their ideal diet would add meat/fish, eggs, fruits and vegetables.
Education
School is taught in different rooms and open areas throughout the orphanage compound, as there is currently no school building for the children. Some children even have class in old bird houses.
Supervision & Shelter
There are not enough Aunties to care for the children. It is not uncommon for one Auntie to cook, clean, and look after up to 8 young children. So, you may find that many of the young ones are sitting, crawling or walking around alone. There are not enough beds to go around for all of the children.
Our Goals For the Children & Orphanage
- To supply vitamins and nutritious meals that promote a healthy immune system.
- To provide adequate residential, eating and sleeping areas that promote sanitary living conditions and decrease the spread of infectious diseases and illnesses.
- To educate caregivers on how to properly administer medications which increases the effectiveness of medications in treating illnesses.
- To provide anti-malarial medications that will treat malaria & decrease mortalities caused by symptoms of malaria.
- To provide vehicles for transportation so children can be transprted to medical facilities when needed and staff can run errands as needed for M.O.M.
- To provide a security wall around the perimeter of the orphanage which will promote a safe environment in which the children can play, learn and grow without fear of abduction or armed robberies and to promote a sense of security and well-being among the children and caregivers.
